Fando y Lis
Alejandro Jodorowsky blew my mind with The Holy Mountain and he still continues to do so. Fando y Lis is a Spanish film about the unfathomable adventure of Fando and Lis his paraplegic girlfriend trying to find the city of Tar. It was released in 1967. The script for this film consisted of a single page.

Trash Humpers
"Make it, make it, don't fake it!!!" I understand Harmony Korine made this film to go against high definition quality, but I do not understand where he was going in means of obscurity. Trash Humpers is more obscure than any of Korine's films. I really can see the Werner Herzog influence in this film. Watch it, I bet you will fucking hate it.

You Don't Know Jack
Tony Montana now as Jack Kevorkian??? I found it hard to believe, but Al Pacino did an amazing job playing the role of Dr. Kevorkian. You Don't Know Jack is a 2010 film based on the life, actions, and trials of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Who better than John Goodman to play Jack's friend and helper. This movie was too good to be true.

Paul Dano(L.I.E., There Will Be Blood, Fast Food Nation) plays the character Lucas; Lucas is homeless and the old man meets him in a hospital and gives him the opportunity to help run the dive bar. Definitely an amazing film.

Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry
Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry is a documentary that came out in 2010 about the famous tattoo artist, Sailor Jerry. I was very amazed by this documentary. The film told so so much about Sailor Jerry. Jerry become big by tattooing sailors out of Honolulu, Hawaii. I thought it was very funny how much Jerry hated hippies and their marijuana free love and peace bullshit.
If you like the rum and tattoos check it out.

Me and You and Everyone We Know
Me and You and Everyone We Know is a drama that came out in 2005. This was Miranda July's directorial debut. At first I did not really like the plot/film at all, but towards the end I wanted more. I thought it was an amazing film. It reminded me of a soft, less crude version of Happiness. I do not know why I put viewing this movie off for so long.

The Black Balloon
The Black Balloon is a 2008 Australian drama that focuses on a family that includes a person that has autism. I really enjoyed it a lot. I have not seen any Australian films until I saw this one. The main character throughout has to deal with the hardship of having a brother that has autism. If you want to watch a film that can cause smiles and tears, this is the perfect one to watch.

Mammoth
Mammoth is a 2009 drama from Sweden. I was absolutely blown away by this film. I have been waiting so long to see it and I finally done. Mammoth, by far, was Gael Garcia Bernal's best English role. Michelle Williams has not amazed me so much since I saw, Wendy and Lucy. Mammoth will definitely make you cry, especially when Cat Power starts playing. I NEED to own this.

The Beat That My Heart Skipped
The Beat That My Heart Skipped is an amazing French film that came out in 2005. I have had this film in my collection for a few years now and never have got around to watching it. I just watched it today and absolutely loved it. The plot of the film is about a real estate agent that follows his dream of being a pianist. Sounds boring right? Well it is not boring one bit.

Amores Perros
Amores Perros is a Mexican drama that consists of three different stories which came out in 2000. It was an amazing film which I have viewed a few times now. I think Amores Perros is by far the best film from Mexico that Gael Garcia Bernal has been in. Rudo y Cursi and Y Tu Mama Tambien were great, but Gael did an outstanding performance in this film. Amores Perros also achieved the BAFTA Award and also won the prize of critic's weeks at the Cannes festival. It was also nominated for an academy award for best foreign film. If dead animals get to you, this film is not for you.

Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen
Even Dwarfs Started Small is another obscure, disturbing film by the great Werner Herzog that came out in 1970. The film is completely based around dwarfs. The film is about how all these dwarfs are in an institution and they rebel against the guards. One dwarf got ran over and burnt while filming Even Dwarfs Started Small. Werner then promised the actors that if no one got hurt during the rest of the filming he would jump into a cactus. Werner had to make his promise for them. Every film Herzog creates gets more and more different.

(500) Days of Summer
(500) Days of Summer is a romantic-comedy that came out in 2009. The film stars the beautiful Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordan-Levitt. This by far was my favorite romantic film of 2009. The film is based on the relationship journey of Summer(Zoeey) and Tom(Joseph). This film shows how relationships can be amazing at the start and eventually take a wrong turn. Zooey Deschanel also sings in the film. Zooey sings in the band She & Him. I loved this film so much. The soundtrack is also AMAZING. The soundtrack includes: The Smiths, Regina Spektor, Feist, and She & Him. If you see this film you will love it, unless your a macho man or if you only love action films.

Jerichow
Jerichow is a German film that came out in 2008. The name is based off a small village in Germany. German films blow me away every time I view one. Thomas comes home to this village with absolutely nothing. He meets Ali and gets into his field of work. Laura is Ali's wife which causes an interruption between the three. Go see it. It is a very unpredictable film. 5 out of 5. Absolutely flawless. I loved it and want to own this film.

Quiet City
Quiet City is another mumble-core film that came out in 2007. Like most mumble-core films they are very low budget and lack on plot. The main character Jamie went to go visit her friend in New York. Jamie's friend did not answer the phone call. So, Jamie is stranded in New York. Jamie asked a guy for directions and eventually became very close to the guy, Charlie. The film is beautiful. Great colors, great music, and just perfect overall.

Shrink
Shrink is a drama that came out in 2009. Kevin Spacey plays a depressed counselor that is a drunk pot-head. This film will be very depressing for a lot of people. It made me tear up a few times. The film touches on many different characters and shows how they all tie together...in a way. Kevin Spacey's character gives advice and tries to help celebrities, until he does a pro-bono session with a high school student. Robin Williams is also in the film. The shrink turns into a whole different person after he smokes the strain called, "Christmas in Vietnam". Definitely check this film out, I loved it.

Where The Wild Things Are
Where The Wild Things Are is an amazing film by Spike Jonze, that is based on the 1963 book written by, Maurice Sendak. A lot of people will not enjoy this film. If you have read the book and enjoy amazing cinematography, then you will be very amazed by the film. In the film Max, the main character is a depressed, lonely young kid that has no friends. So, he runs away to this island where he meets all of the monsters that become his friends. Many of the monsters voices done in the film are done by big time actors and actresses which you will most likely recognize. Overall I give this film a 5 out of 5. I enjoyed every minute of this film. Go see it and then purchase it when it comes out to buy.

Sin Nombre
Sin Nombre is a Spanish drama that came out in 2009. I waited so long to see this film and I finally did. I was blown away by this film. A great drama produced by two of my favorite Mexican actors, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal (Rudo Y Cursi). The film is based on the Mexican gang MS13. The main character El Casper aka Willy is part of MS13 and he wants to get out. The whole film is based on Willy's adventure to leave the gang. Willy meets this girl named Sayra while trying to get out of Mexico on top of a train. She wants to help him and he wants to help her get over the border. I WILL NOT say anymore. You have to see it for yourself. Overall I thought it was an amazing film, it could not have been better.

Pierrot Le Fou
Pierrot Le Fou is a French drama that came out in 1965. Ferdinand aka Pierrot(Jean-Paul Belmondo) and Marianne(Anna Karina), the two on the cover, are the main characters in the film. The two have an affair together. The film is based on love, dreams, singing, desires, and running away from problems. I thought it was an amazing French film. If you love French films that focus on love in anyway be sure to see this film. I loved it.

Humboldt County
Humboldt County is a film that came out in 2008 that debuted at SXSW. It was a great film. The main character is in the midst of becoming a doctor when he randomly hooks up with this girl that drops him off in the woods of Humboldt, California. There he finds out the whole family are pot growers. He is not a fan of marijuana, but he falls in love with the atmosphere. The film shows how people can dedicate there life to something and have it all taken away in a matter of minutes. Definitely go check this film out. It took me forever to find this film, but I did. Thank you Netflix.

Gardens of the Night
Gardens of the Night came out in 2008. The film is one of the most depressing dramas I have ever seen. The film starts out with a young girl who gets kidnapped and so on. I will not say anymore. This film blew me away. One of my favorite actors, John Malkovich is in the film for a second and does a great job. The main character is Gillian Jacobs. She did an amazing job of acting in this film. Go see this film right away.

Stroszek
Stroszek is a film written by Werner Herzog in 1977. It was written in four days and it is based on the life of Bruno S. Bruno S. is a son of a prostitute who spent most of his life in mental institutions. He was a musician and a drunk. The film is about how he moved to the United States to improve his life, but realized that moving there just made his life worse.
Stroszek is a very depressing, weird film. Ian Curtis, lead singer of a 70's band called Joy Division killed himself after watching this film. Around 90% of the film is spoken in German. I thought it was a great film that shows the up's and down's of a man who suffers from many problems.

The Puffy Chair
What an amazing film. The Puffy Chair, is a romantic comedy that came out in 2005. The film is based on, a couple and the boyfriend's brother rent a van and go on a journey to purchase there father a puffy maroon chair. It has some very funny moments and some very depressing moments. The film won the Audience Award of SXSW in 2005. This film is considered a mumblecore film. Mumblecore films focus mainly on low budget costs for production, relationships of people in their 20's, improvisation, and no name actors.
Go out and find this film, but good luck finding it.
Eraserhead
David Lynch's first film that came out in 1977. It is a very strange film. I would classify this film as a science fiction horror. The film is in black and white, so if you do not appreciate films in the black and white era don't bother. If you have not ever seen it, you should. It puts you in a very awkward mind state. It has its ups and downs, but for its time, this film has amazing cinematography.
Tokyo!
Tokyo! A film I just viewed that consists of three shorts. Each short is directed by a non-Japanese director. The three shorts(listed in chronological order) are: Interior Design, Merde, and Shaking Tokyo. All the shorts were filmed in Tokyo, Japan. If you feel like watching a trippy film watch this one. A woman who turns into a chair, a bum who eats flowers and cash, and a girl that can make her hair grow by the press of a button. Shocking, weird, and amazing. The main character of Merde, Denis Lavant, also stars in the film, Mister Lonely. One of my favorite Harmony Korine films. Denis Lavant portrays Charlie Chaplin. Tokyo! is a great film that entered the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
